 Aksakov's gymnasium was opened on the base of the oldest educational institution of Bashkortostan and Orenburg region - secondary school №11 of the city of Ufa in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Bashkortostan "On Aksakov's gymnasium in the city of Ufa" from the 20 of September 1995. It is the assign of Ufa gentleman's gymnasium, which was founded in 1828. "On the 11 of November the grand opening of Ufa gymnasium took place, on that day the first 15 pupils took their places at the school desks." That was the beginning of the history of Ufa gymnasium, described by the teacher Polikarpov in 1903 in connection with its 75 anniversary. In 1844 the boarding school attached to the gymnasium was opened "... for easing the education of the noblemen and officials' children". Firstly it was intended for 20 public expense scholars. The best pupils after graduating from the educational institution were given an assignment for entering a university. In 1845 the boarding school began to admit not only official, but paying pupils as well. On the money of the citizen of Ufa P.V. Polezhaev and other patrons of art the Trustee fund for poor pupils was founded. The number of boarders was from 24 to 46 people.
Ufa gymnasium began to give general secondary education of classical direction. All representatives of any estate at the age of 10 years old could study there after entrance exams. The pupils, having gone through the full course of study, had the right of entering the University and privileges after awarding the rank.
The gymnasium took a special place in the development of enlightment and city culture. It was not only a school, but also a local scientific centre. Its teachers were included into the first bibliography of Bashkortostan. They wrote a number of works in history, ethnography and geography of local place. They also organized first scientific aerography.
The gymnasium is famous for its graduates which became famous not only in Bashkortostan, but also far away. They are the poet M.L.Mikhalkov, the historian of Russian culture, the academician P.P.Pekarsky, who found one of the lists of "The Lay of Igor's Warfare", the academician - geologist A.N. Zavaritsky, the author I.V.Avdeyev, a great Russian painter M.V. Nesterov, the polar researcher V.A.Albanov, whose diaries were included into the novel "Two captains", the rector of the Kazan University, professor N.M.Lyubimov, the creator of the ophthalmologic clinic in Ufa, the professor V.P.Odintsov, the academician - botanist P.N.Ovchinnikov, the head of the Institute of the Nuclear Physics, named after Yoffe V.M.Tuchkevich. Modern journalists V.Karamasheva, Y.Derphil, V.Golov, the solist of the Bashkir House of Opera and Ballet, the honored artist of Russia Almira Akhmetzaripova, the honored artist of Russia, the solist of the Bashkir State Philarmonic Lidiya Nagaeva are also the graduates of the 11 gymnasium.
More than 200 pupils left school with gold and silver medals. Among them there are 77 doctors of science, 182 candidates of science, 40 prizewinners of the State premium. Today teachers do everything their students know and love their gymnasium, its history, follow the examples of its graduates, remember it all their life. The museum "History of school" takes a special place. It was created by the enthusiast of local history, the honored worker of culture of Bashkortostan Nikulicheva Elena. The exhibits of the museum are unique. Students of local history conduct searching work: annually they visit the places of Aksakov. These are Nadezhdino village, Belebey city, Abramtsevo museum.
Every year the gymnasium meet with the guests of the International Aksakov holiday. Educational work is carried out according to the general methodological theme "Innovation processes in the gymnasium of Russian national culture: their development, problems and ways of decision." Educational process contains dialogue ideas of cultures. Teachers in the gymnasium try to form self-consciousness, to develop intellectual faculties and the ability to interpret historical facts, to feel spiritual origin and to remember remote past of the people.
Teachers in the gymnasium worked out special courses which help to form Russian national self-consciousness: " A vivid word in ancient Russia", " Sacred shrines and orthodoxy", " Spiritual and literature inheritance of Aksakov", " Geneology", "People's trade. Applied Art", "Art culture of Bashkortostan", "Russia and Bashkortostan: cultural, national and economic interaction". In the gymnasium there are different hobby groups of woodcarving, carpet weaving, national embroidery and folk ensemble. In the time of impoverishment in education the gymnasium could create and save a stable collective of teachers and to attract young initiative teachers.
 In 2007 the Author's program of a facultative course for pupils of 6-7 classes of the gymnasium «The Spiritual heritage of the Aksakov family» has been developed. The author: N.F.Mikhailova. Annually pupils of the Aksakov gymnasium №11 go to the regional camp of work and rest "Amicable". They think that it is the best variant of combination of work and rest. For the work on the fields of the state farm "Alekseevsky" in 2004 the Aksakov gymnasium №11 has been awarded by the digital camera, in 2005 - the home cinema and diplomas. For a number of years gymnasium students took prize-winning places in various competitions and sporting actions.
One of the important directions of work of the Aksakov gymnasium is ecological education of schoolchildren. Children study the nature and history of their native land, participate in competitions, expositions, speak at scientifically-practical conferences. The land ecology begins with the ecology of their native gymnasium. Understanding this, children work on community work day with enthusiasm.

The Aksakov gymnasium creates steady relations with other national schools: № 114th of Moscow, gymnasium "Ivan Aksakov" of Pazardzhik city of Bulgaria which have celebrated the 100th anniversary in 1998. Group of teachers, having visited these gymnasiums, has got acquainted with the features of national training, education and modern techniques of teaching of humanitarian subjects. The Aksakov gymnasium maintains friendly and creative relations with Osinovsky school of Birsky district, with Zubovsky school of the Ufa district, with school № 88 of Ufa.
Having revised curricula and programs, having introduced new special courses, the pedagogical staff aspire to approach the content of education to national consciousness, life style and way of Russian people as much as possible. Thus the gymnasium creates conditions for studying the Bashkir language, culture and history of Bashkortostan, the Bashkir literature.
The uniqueness of the Aksakov gymnasium is in its multinationality - children of more than 30 nationalities are trained here. Being situated in an old part of Ufa near two orthodox temples - the Sergievsky Cathedral and Pokrovsk church, the gymnasium stands by its primordial spiritual traditions.

For pupils of the Ufa Aksakov gymnasium №11 September is a special month. In this educational institution everything breathes S.T.Aksakov and his family. The most bright event of the middle of September is a trip to Belebey: visiting of the village of Nadezhdin and Aksakov places here, an excursion to the local history museum, a trip to village Usen-Ivanovo, to Marina Tsvetaeva.
This year did not become an exception. 28 eleventh-graders of the gymnasium, some teachers, headed by the deputy director on educational work N.F.Mikhailova, have carried out their sated plan.
Though this arrival in Belebey is already the thirteenth one, the staff of Ufa delegation is renewed every year. It was extremely interesting to children and the teachers who have arrived to us for the first time to see illustrations to the book "Childhood of the Bagrov's grandson" in nature: springs, the pond, church, the house of the Aksakov family. The impression is unforgettable.
The Ufa citizens has seen much interesting in the local history museum, they have understood that S.T.Aksakov's ideas, his creativity are dear to us, as well as to them.

The pupils and teachers of Ufa Aksakov grammar school visited many cities of Russia and even Europe. They attended Abrantsev, Bulgaria where there is an Aksakov grammar school. The teacher of pupils N.F. Michaylova attended places where M. Tsvetaeva was during her visit to France, Czechoslavakia. All people have their own cultural values. Some go to Mecca, others attend historic places.
